Donations from the public have helped to buy a games console to aid struggling youngsters.

Hywel Dda Health Charities, the official charity of Hywel Dda University Health Board, used the charitable gifts to buy games consoles and accessories for the new Bro Myrddin Wellbeing Hub in Johnstown, Carmarthenshire.

This 24/7 facility is Wales' first mental health crisis hub for children and youths requiring urgent support.

The hub offers specialised mental health provision round-the-clock and serves as a sanctuary to prevent distressing, unnecessary A&E admissions and visits to mental health wards.

Donated funds enabled the acquisition of an X-Box and PlayStation console, controllers, docking stations and various games for use by young people during their time of crisis.

Assistant director of mental health and learning disabilities, Angela Lodwick, showed gratitude for the donations, and said: "We’re incredibly grateful that charitable funds have allowed us to purchase this new equipment.

"The consoles will help the young people in crisis have some relaxation time.

"We hope they will make a big difference to the wellbeing of the young people that will use the service."
