Firefighters were called to extinguish a fire at a derelict building in Carmarthenshire on Tuesday (April 30).

At 4:30pm, firefighters attended an incident on Station Road in Kidwelly where a single-storey property was alight.

The fire required a multi-agency response with crews from Kidwelly, Pontiets, Llanelli and Port Talbot in attendance along with Heddlu Dyfed-Powys Police, Welsh Water, BT, and the Local Authority.

Crews extinguished the fire by using 14 breathing apparatus sets, two hose reel jets, three thermal imaging cameras, two main jets and two short-extension ladders.

A spokesperson for Mid & West Wales Fire & Rescue Service said:

“At 4.30pm on Tuesday, April 30th, the Kidwelly, Pontiets, Llanelli and Port Talbot crews were called to an incident on Station Road in Kidwelly.

“Crews responded to a single-storey, derelict building measuring approximately 15m x 10m that was well alight on arrival. 

“Crews left the scene at 12.07am on Wednesday, May 1st."
