A charity coffee morning in Ammanford will have a special guest.

Minster, a guide dog who has inspired a popular book, is set to be the guest of honour at a fundraising event hosted by Guide Dogs.

The event will take place on Saturday, April 27 at Ammanford Pensioners’ Hall in Stryd Y Cei, from 10.30am to 12.30pm.

All are welcome to join for hot and cold drinks, home-made cakes, and the chance to meet Minster and his fellow guide dogs and puppies.

Minster's owner, author Zena Cooper, has penned "What You Can See When You Can’t See - How Blindness Helped One Woman Discover the True Beauty of Life".

Zena, who is almost completely blind due to Marfan syndrome, refers to Minster as "Munch".

The book delves into her relationship with the labradoodle and how she views the world, filled with humour and placing a positive spin on day-to-day challenges.

Ruth Evans, community fundraising development manager for Guide Dogs Cymru, said: "We’re delighted that Zena and Munch will join this event, which we’re calling Make Every Cuppa Count.

"Zena is a force in her community and is always happy to share her story.

"She is extremely knowledgeable, as she has been a guide dog owner and volunteer for a long time."

With insights from Zena about the struggles of sight loss, the role of guide dogs and her own experiences with her eye condition, she aims to build awareness and promote inclusivity within her community.

It is worth mentioning that the cost to support a guide dog from birth and up towards retirement amounts to nearly £55,000.

Guide Dogs work tirelessly to breed, train and match dogs to individuals with sight loss to provide them with life-changing support, thereby empowering them to lead the lives they wish for.
