AMMANFORD temporarily became the hub of Carmarthenshire county council when the local authority’s executive board – the Cabinet – met at Ammanford Town Hall on Monday morning for the first time.
“It’s an historic day,” Leader Kevin Madge told colleagues. “The last time I attended a meeting here was as a member of Dinefwr Borough Council 17 years ago.”
Cllr Colin Evans likened Cllr Madge, chief executive Mark James and their five officers to The Magnificent Seven riding into town.
“I hope you have your six-shooters handy now you’re in Ammanford,” he added.
“The Magnificent Seven?” replied Mr James. “Look what happened to them!”
Councillors and officers later met members of the Aman Valley Group of Local Councils before touring the newlyrevamped Amman Valley Comprehensive School.
