KEY decisions affecting our county will be made in Ammanford for the first time later this month, the Guardian can exclusively reveal.
In a significant break with tradition, the county council’s executive board – the Cabinet – will meet at Ammanford Town Hall on July 30.
“It’ll be the first time the executive board have ever had a meeting outside County Hall,” said Cllr Kevin Madge, the authority’s new leader. “I want to show the people of the Amman Valley that I mean business.”
Cllr Madge has already set up a base at the town hall to hold meetings with officers and members of the public. “In the past we’d have had to drag them down to County Hall,” he said. “Now the face of the council is here in Ammanford – and the buck stops with me.”
Cllr Madge intends to invite members of the Amman Valley Group of Local Councils to the meeting and visit the refurbished Amman Valley Comprehensive School.
