GORDON Giltrap - the guitarist claimed to be “simply the best" by Eric Clapton, is to play the opening night of a Swansea Valley Guitar Festival.
Gordon is one of the most innovative acoustic guitarists in the UK today. He has developed his own unique style, much copied, but never bettered. It is impossible not to be awestruck as he coaxes incredible melodies from his instruments; you almost suspect a second pair of hands.
With over 45 years in the business, Gordon will satisfy fans with his most well loved hits, as well as explaining the history of his many different guitars. Be prepared for beautiful compositions that cross all musical genres, wit, charm and unbelievable talent.
Gordon will be in concert on the Friday evening and give a workshop on the Saturday lunch time.
The festival runs over the weekend of September 20-21 at the Green Vallary Arts in Upper Cwmtwrch and features several other accomplished performers, including the Texas double-axe man Rodney Branigan.
American guilt edged guitarist Rodney Branigan was a main stage performer in the Pembrey Beach festival on two occasions and headed the North Wales Wiral guitar festival in 2011.
His live performances never fail to impress the audiences with his percussive guitar beats and the two guitars at a time. He is in constant demand around the world as a flamboyant festival artist as well as the guitar master, he plays Saturday at 8pm and his workshop during the day. Other artists to be seen are John Dignam and the blues dobro from Mr. H on Saturday day time. The Music Station will provide a guitar shop and workshops on site.
Tickets are £8 per day and £15 for all weekend with camping. See www.greenvalleyarts.co.uk or ring 07734012370 or go to Derricks records Swansea .
