FOR those who have yet to savour the special atmosphere and intimacy of Ammanford Miners’ Theatre, the piano recital by Clare Hammond is the perfect opportunity.

Acclaimed by The Daily Telegraph as a pianist of “amazing power and panache”, Clare Hammond has performed across Europe, Russia and Canada and this October at the Miners'.

The programme will include pieces such as Mozart’s set of variations on C. Fischer’s graceful Minuet, Ginastera’s vigorous and ebullient dances, based on the folk music of his homeland, the incomparable lyricism of Mendelssohn’s Songs Without Words and Schubert’s serene and understated Sonata in A major and more...

This month Clare has just embarked on a new collaboration with BIS records and will record two discs: one of the complete solo piano works of Andrzej and Roxanna Panufnik and the other of études by Unsuk Chin, Karol Szymanowski, Nikolai Kapustin and Sergei Lyapunov.

As an active chamber musician, Clare has worked with Andrew Kennedy, Jennifer Pike, Philippe Graffin, Lawrence Power, Ruth Palmer, Sara Trickey and the Endellion, Dante and Badke String Quartets. She performs regularly with the cellist Richard Birchall and with the Goldfield Ensemble.

A passionate advocate of twentieth and twenty-first century music, Clare combines a formidable technique and virtuosic flair onstage with stylistic integrity and attention to detail.
