LIVING in the heart of Carmarthenshire’s Towy Valley are a family of four siblings, each sharing a common interest: an all-embracing passion for music.
Known collectively as The Meadows, Melody, Fantasia, Harvey and Titania – have been touring the area over the summer months, performing at charity concerts all in aid of Velindre Cancer Centre.
“The Llangathen event was a great success and went down very well,” said the talented youngsters’ dad James Meadows.
“It was supported by Llandeilo's Mayor and was very well attended by people from the surrounding area who, to our surprise, packed-out the hall.
“The local communities for the first two concerts contributed delicious home-made cakes and the family-friendly evenings of entertainment went down a storm, so far raising £1462.01,” he added.
The siblings have a personal reason to raise money for the centre, their grandmother was diagnosed with breast cancer which unfortunately was found to have moved onto her brain.
Locally, whole-of-brain radiotherapy or surgery was the treatment primarily on offer for brain tumour patients, alongside chemotherapy.
However, having been informed by a friend of the groundbreaking work being carried out at the Velindre Cancer Centre, she decided to transfer there for a short course of Radiosurgery.
Their grandmother has now been transformed and thoroughly enjoying life once more.
