A night out with a difference is promised as Os Sambistas give Ammanford Miners' Theatre a Brazilian flavour with The Samba Story Tour on March 16 .
The Samba Story Tour is an evening of live Brazilian music that captures the soul of Rio, Salvador, Maranhao and Recife. Os Sambistas will take command of your feet as violin, flute, guitar and cavaquinho set the melody while Brazilian tambourine's and tan-tan drums provide the grooves!
The Samba Story Tour is a Theatr Brycheiniog / Os Sambistas co-production, supported by the Welsh Assembly Government and the Arts Council of Wales through the Arts Outside Cardiff Fund.
The group includes violinist Lucy Rivers, flute player Sadie Finch, nylon string guitarist Richard Jones, Dan Lawrence, cavaquinho and mandolin; Mark O'Connor, tan tan and percussion; Chris O'Connor, pandeiro, double bass and percussion. It also features the talents of guest musician Bosco De Oliveira, Europe's leading Brazilian percussionist who has worked with Terry Callier and Kate Bush among others. Os Sambistas may hail from South Wales, but their soul is strictly samba!
To make it a night to remember, Carmarthenshire Theatres will be pulling out all the stops, providing limited cabaret-style seating with waiter service, a chocolate fountain plus we're putting on an introductory samba dance workshop the night before to help those not so steady on their feet get into the swing of things.
Tickets, priced £8 - £10, and Samba workshop tickets priced £1-£3 (available initially to Os Sambistas ticket holders), are available from the box office: 0845 226 3508/09/10.
