AMMANFORD town councillors have taken a Welsh community group to task for failing to place adverts in the South Wales Guardian.
Paul Thomas, of Menter Cwm Gwendraeth – partners of Carmarthenshire county council – had told councillors that the group had launched a drive to attract more volunteers. He said full-page adverts had been placed in two other local papers, plus the council’s own free newspaper.
But members questioned why adverts had not been placed in their local paper.
“The Guardian represents our area, so we should have full page adverts in there,” said Cllr Jonathan Davies.
Mr Thomas pledged to look into the matter, but warned that budgets had been slashed.
“You might also find your numbers of volunteers are slashed too,” replied Cllr Davies. “We want those ads in our paper.”
