A TYCROES man cautioned by police for possessing child pornography went on to download some more, a judge heard.
Robert David Jones, aged 24, of 9 Fforestfach, admitted possessing three indecent images of children and two of extreme pornography. Swansea Crown Court heard that those images featured a woman engaged in sexual activity with a dog.
Ieuan Rees, prosecuting, said Jones had been cautioned by police in 2011 for 12 offences of possessing child porn and one of grooming a 14-year-old girl for sex. The terms of the caution included Jones registering with the police as a sex offender and unannouced visits by officers to his home.
Two detectives visited him in October last year and became suspicious at some of the answers he gave. The officers took his ipad for examination. The following day Jones telephoned them to say he had been receiving adult porn from a man he had been exchanging messages with. Police then seized more electronic devices from Jones' home which revealed the illegal images.
Judge Keith Thomas said he found it inexplicable that Jones had been let off with a police caution in 2011 and gave the Crown Prosecution Service seven days to come up with an answer.
Catherine Richards, representing Jones, said he had complex needs and needed help.
Judge Thomas made Jones the subject of a three-year community order. The terms included a ban on Jones deleting memory from any computer he used so that police could check which internet sites he had been visiting. He was also ordered to attend sexual counselling sessions and to register with the police as a sex offender for the next five years.
