HRH The Prince of Wales is coming to Llandovery on Monday (July 1) to open the first rural work hub in Wales.
The Hub will be located above the Tourism Information Centre, right in the heart of the town, with easy access to car parking and local places to eat and drink.
Llandovery is one of six towns in the UK selected by The Prince as part of his Place Strategy about working in partnership with his charities. The Llandovery Partnership has been working with Carmarthenshire County Council to enable the Llandovery Town Council’s initiative to happen.
It has been funded through projects run by Carmarthenshire County Council with an aim of boosting the local economy by attracting businesses to actually see Llandovery as a place to do business.
The Workhub is a flexible co shared work space; an environment that facilitates business collaboration and networking. The Llandovery Hub will have 16 workstations and a meeting room.
Sharon Davidson of Aresko Ltd says “I am really looking forward to this initiative taking off. Being new to the area, it will give me the opportunity to meet other local business colleagues who, like me, work from home. It can be lonely at times, but this will give me an outlet to test some ideas and generally get that office camaraderie feeling again. Can't wait!!”
Emily Davies, from Llangadog, has been employed by Llandovery town council through the Jobs Growth Wales scheme, as the first new Hub Host.
She is a bilingual graduate and has already started working on setting up the necessary systems.
“What an exciting opportunity, building up a business from the beginning. I look forward to working with the Llandovery Town Council in making the Workhub into a great success. And to top it all, I’ll actually be meeting Prince Charles,” says Emily.
