Llandovery RFC welcomed guest of honour Rhodri Gomer Davies to the club’s annual Players’ Award Dinner at Church Bank recently.

The S4C pundit and former Scarlet, Newport Gwent Dragon and Northampton Saint played 19 times for the Drovers at the outset of his senior career during the early 2000s.

Jack Roberts scooped an armful of awards with the Bangor-born centre claiming the First XV Player of the Year, the Players’ Player of the Year and the Supporters’ Player of the Year before heading for a professional contract with Rotherham. Chris Knight was named top try-scorer while Llewelyn Jones claimed the First XV Most Improved Player title.

Wyn Jones was named Player Clubman of the Year award and Gareth Salt Clubman of the Year.

Emyr Phillips, currently in Japan with the Wales squad, was named Club Ambassador of the Year.

Andrew Owens was named Second XV Player of the Year.

Daniel Lewis was named Youth XV Player of the Year while the Youth XV Players’ Player of the Year went to Richie Elliott.

Coaches Lyndon Lewis and Euros Evans collected an award for Outstanding Services to the Club on behalf of the management team.

There were also two special awards with prop Andrew Jones honoured for his outstanding 500 appearances while Rob Walters was recognised for making more than 300 appearances.
