AN eyesore in Garnant has been cleared after Carmarthenshire county council enforcement officers got on the case.
The small area of land at Hedgehog Castle, Dynevor Road, has now been cleared of overgrowth, a dilapidated caravan and debris. The news has been welcomed by Carmarthenshire county council leader Cllr Kevin Madge, who is local member for the area.
Enforcement officer Kevin Jones visited the site in February and followed the visit up by requesting a Land Registry search for the owner’s details. The search was returned and the land in question was not registered to anyone. He found that the site had been sold by auction and was able to trace the new owner and contact him.
Mr Jones said: “That small area of land was an eyesore. I asked the new owner to clear the land and he has removed the dilapidated caravan, cut the overgrowth and cleared the land.”
Cllr Kevin Madge said: “I had numerous complaints about this site. I’m pleased that after bringing it up with officers they have been able to get the site cleared. Another eyesore has gone from Garnant and I hope the site will soon be developed.”
