LLANDYBIE community councillors are endeavouring to list the support of local Assembly Members in their campaign to get 20 mph zones in the vicinity of local primary schools.
They are also seeking financial assistance for the project through the Mynydd y Betws Windfarm Community Benefit Fund – although the Welsh Assembly are still considering the question of such speed zones outside schools.
Community clerk Dilys Griffiths said speed restriction zones were being sought around Saron, Blaenau and Llandybie primary schools. She added that she had written to local AMs seeking their support, including Carmarthenshire East and Dinefwr AM Rhodri Glyn Thomas.
Funding was also being sought for a neighbour building project – aimed at encouraging residents to arrange small-scale community events such as street parties and ensuring they received the necessary professional expertise.
