ON Saturday the Carmarthenshire National Eisteddfod 2014 will be officially launched at the Proclamation Ceremony in Carmarthen.
Thousands are expected to visit the town for the Eisteddfod’s historic ceremony and procession.
Before the afternoon’s procession there will be entertainment and children’s activities in the town.
In support, Carmarthenshire county council have arranged for the park and ride service between Nantyci and the town centre to be free throughout the day to all users. There will also be free parking at the County Hall and Spilman Street car parks.
County Leader Cllr Kevin Madge said: “Hosting the Eisteddfod next year is a great honour for this county especially for it to be returning to the Festival Fields site on Llanelli Millennium Coastal Park so soon with it having been there as recently as the year 2000.
“The free park and ride and car parking for the proclamation ceremony is the council’s contribution to the start of the build-up for the National Eisteddfod.”
The entertainment at Guildhall Square will start am 11am with local primary schools, Dawnswyr Talog and the well known S4C children’s character Cyw all performing during the day from 11am – 1pm.
The procession will start from St Peter’s car park at 2pm travelling through King Street to the Guildhall and up Lammas Street to Carmarthen Park for the enthronement of the Arch Druid.
In the castle forecourt local organisations, Carmarthenshire county council and the Welsh Football Association will have a feast of activities for people to enjoy from hand-painting, football and cookery.
