POLICE officers in Glanamman are re-assuring the public that no abduction attempt has been made in the village following claims that a driver had tried to entice children into a car.
The alarm was raised by two children aged 12 and ten on Tuesday of last week. They claimed a man in a car had pulled to the kerb and gestured to them. No words were exchanged and there was no contact between them.
“Two children believed they were being propositioned by a man in a car,” said Det Insp Estelle Hopkin-Davies.
“From enquiries conducted by the police, it would appear the male person had simply stopped to get his bearings whilst house-hunting in the area.
“I want to stress that the children did the right thing in reporting the matter to the police as they were obviously concerned, but I also want to re-assure the community that this was not a sinister event, but simply a case of mistaken intention.”
