YOUNGSTERS who dream of tackling blazes, rescuing kittens trapped in trees and becoming real-life heroes are to get the chance to find out whether they are made of the right stuff.

Ammanford Fire Station is to hold and open day where young and old can come along and see Mid and West Wales Fire Service’s finest in action.

The event will boast lots of stalls, a barbecue – correctly supervised at all at times of course – and plenty of refreshments.

There will also be various fire appliances and emergency service vehicles on display, including an aerial appliance – emergencies permitting.

Trained officers will also be involved in a various displays highlighting the danger of fire – including a graphic display of what can happen when a chip pan catches alight.

The event has something for all the family and there will be plenty of activities for youngsters.

The event takes place at Ammanford Fire Station on Saturday, September 21, from 11am until 4pm.

All funds raised will be donated to the Firefighters Charity, so come along to support your local firefighters and find out what all the fuss is about.
