A PLANNING application to transform Tumble’s former post office into a restaurant and take away has been submitted to county planners.

The applicant is asking for full planning permission to change of use of the building on 22 Heol y Neuadd, as well as refurbishment works, to include the addition of a commercial kitchen and toilet facilities.

Tumble Post Office relocated to Y Farchnad Fach on Bethesda Road in April, following months of campaigning by local residents to save the services.

It is understood that the new restaurant and takeaway would create four new jobs (two full time and two part time) and the proposed opening hours would be 8am to 11pm Monday to Saturday and 4pm until 10pm on Sundays.

A design and access statement for the plans said: “The existing site has an excellent location and access to local transport links and we are confident that the proposal will enhance the surrounding environment both visually and economically.”
