VOLUNTEERS are needed for a community garden project at Llandovery Cottage Hospital.
Valerie Wood-Gaiger MBE is behind the drive after she recently spent a week there.
She said: “The gardens used to be so beautiful, but since the gardener retired, they have become more and more overgrown. I found myself sat among a sea of dandelions!”
Experienced gardeners and landscapers are needed to plan and supervise the work, as well as young people with energy and enthusiasm who want to learn more about gardening.
The project is also in need of plants, seeds, tools and a shed.
Mrs Wood-Gaiger added: “It would be so good for patients and would show the powers that be that the community loves its hospital.
“We are so lucky to have this facility for people from all over the district. Our doctors and nurses do a wonderful job. The food is great and The League of Friends do sterling work in helping to provide more facilities for patients. Currently they are raising funds to improve the x-ray department and are holding a fete on Saturday, August 30 at Rhys Pritchard Hall in Llandovery, starting at 2pm.”
