LOCAL HERO: Janice Thomas receives a cheque in aid of Cwmaman Society for the Blind from Cwmaman mayor Councillor Dafydd Wyn and his wife Mair. She also received a Hero in the Community plaque in recognition of her outstanding work with the society.
A Cwmaman hero has been honoured for her sterling efforts in supporting disabled members of the community.
Janice Thomas was presented with a Hero in the Community award in recognition of her work with the Cwmaman Society for the Blind.
Mrs Thomas was presented with award by mayor Dafydd Wyn on behalf of the town council.
The Hero in the Community awards is a scheme recently created by the town council to honour those from the area who make a real difference to community life.
In addition, Mayor Wyn and his wife Mair also presented Mrs Thomas with a cheque from the council to boost the society's funds.
