A TEAM of Betws fundraisers are due to embark on a pedal-powered marathon across Europe in a bid to raise cash for charity.
The eight-man team plan to cycle through four countries in four days in support of the Sue Ladd and Friends breast cancer charity and the Royal British Legion.
The super-cycle will see the team set up base in Luxembourg, making return trips to France, Germany and Belgium before embarking on a two-wheeled tour of their host nation.
The trip will see the intrepid travellers powering their way across more than 400 miles.
The event, which is part of the annual Betws in Need fundraiser and has been sponsored by Roberts Concrete, is set to begin on September 19.
Team member Richard Williams said that the group had dreamt up the idea after years of weekend cycling together.
"We have always cycled as a group," said Richard.
"We have previously gone from Land's End to John O'Groats and we thought this one would be that little bit bigger and a little bit different.
"Six of our team are regularly involved in Betws in Need so it seemed an obvious move to make the cycle as part of that.
"We are delighted to support Sue Ladd and Friends which sees all funds raised going directly to the cancer unit in Llanelli and the Legion is also another charity close to all our hearts.
"There is no Bradley Wiggins amongst us, but we are all really looking forward to it and are currently making our final preparations."
The cycle team is made up of Dai Macauley, Mike Anthony, Arfon Harris, Edgar Thomas, Clive Smith, Sean Jones, Richard Williams and Eirian Rees.
The riders will meet all their own costs in travelling to Luxembourg with additional expenses met by Roberts Concrete.
All funds raised from the sponsorship forms currently available in Betws and Ammanford will got directly to the two charities.
