COMMUNITY organisations in the Upper Amman Valley have once again scooped funding from the Sustainable Hubs Key Fund.
Eight grants totalling almost £150,000 have so far been awarded to projects in Lower Brynaman, Cwmgors, Tairgwaith and Gwaun-cae-Gurwen.
These include: improvements to Organised Kaos’s headquarters in Gwaun-cae-Gurwen to help them promote wider community access to their local youth circus; a skate park and ball area in Lower Brynaman to allow young people in the community to have a central point to socialise and keep fit and healthy; new instruments for GcG Brass Band so that they can train up more young members; a new vehicle for DANSA to operate additional community transport services in the Valley and the creation of a picnic area at Amman Valley Trotting Club.
Cllr Ali Thomas, Leader of Neath Port Talbot County Borough Council, said: “It is fantastic to see the investment going into the Upper Amman Valley. The initiatives supported will really help to regenerate the community of the area and as a council we are proud to have supported the successful projects”.
The Sustainable Hubs project is funded by the Welsh Government Western Valleys Regeneration Area, Communities First and Carmarthenshire County Council in partnership with Neath Port Talbot County Borough Council.
