FUNDRAISERS will be causing a stir this week when the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning is held next Friday (September 27) – where people from all over the UK will host their very own event raising money for Macmillan Cancer Support.
Friends of a Llangadog lady who helped raise over £15,000 for the charity will hold a coffee morning in her memory to raise money for Macmillan.
Betty Davies, of Efain Ewydd, was influential in raising thousands of pounds for Macmillan Cancer Support through her annual events as part of the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning.
One of the organisers said: “We have decided to hold a coffee morning again this year to carry on Betty’s good work and fundraise for this very worthy cause. Everyone in the community is invited.”
This year’s event will be held in the Goose and Cuckoo in Llangadog between 10am and 12pm.
Meanwhile Amman Valley residents are in for a treat when fundraisers Ilona and Nadine and Diane Kelly host Tairgwaith’s Biggest Coffee day.
“Last year we raised £732.09 for Macmillan Cancer Support,” said Nadine. “This year we are hoping to raise over £1,000.”
The event kicks off at Tairgwaith Community Centre from 2-5pm with treats for sale, plus entertainment from local singer Jeff and raffle.
From 6pm to 8pm there will be children’s disco with Nia Hodgkinson, who is providing the service free of charge.
The event will then carry on into the night with everyone invited to Tairgwaith Workingmens Club with entertainment from Terry J (£3 entry per person).

Glanafon Sheltered Housing Scheme, off Park Road, Betws from 10am to 12pm.

Black Mountain Centre, Brynaman at 10am.
