A PAIR of fundraisers from the Amman Valley are preparing themselves for the ultimate climbing challenge.

Lisa Chan, from Glanaman, and Harriet Webb, of Tycroes will be scaling the famous Mount Kilimanjaro next February, and will be looking to raise £10,000 for Golau Cancer Foundation.

Training for the climb, the duo, both 30, have been hiking up Pen y Fan, the highest peak in South Wales.

"We will also be trekking the Black Mountains, Pembrokeshire just anywhere with hills," said Lisa.

"We're also doing Funkypump classes together every week in Garnant which has been really good for our fitness"

“It’s going to be a huge challenge for us,” said Harriet. “We wanted to give something back to the community and cancer care is something very close to both our hearts.

“We are determined to climb it and raise as much money as we can for cancer care,” said Lisa.

“We decided to raise money for Golau because it is important to use our efforts to benefit our own community. Golau is the cancer charity based in and for the people of south-west Wales.”

The pair are also organising fundraising events in the community.

They will be hosting a charity band night at Tycroes RFC on Saturday, October 12 with performances from P’tcheaow! and Son of One Eye.

Tickets cost £5 and are available from Tycroes RFC, Manford House Chinese takeaway, Glanaman, Treats, Ammanford or Harmony on Wind Street, Ammanford.

Tickets, costing £6, will also be available on the door.
