IT COULD be a scene from Alfred Hitchcock's The Birds.
Shoppers in Ammanford are being terrorised by pigeons swooping low over Quay Street, according to a former town mayor.
In a letter to the town council, Judith Evans claimed the pigeons were a growing nuisance.
"They fly low over Quay Street and they seem to be roosting in the Arcade," she said, adding that the mess left behind by the feathered fiends constituted a public health hazard.
In Quay Street shoppers agreed that pigeons were indeed a growing problem.
"You never used to get pigeons all over Ammanford," said one mum. " I don't know what's brought them here – maybe it's all the bakeries we have!"
