A 28-year-old Ammanford mum-of-five had a “substantial amount” of alcohol in her system when she was found hanging in the garage at her home, the Carmarthenshire coroner has ruled.
Sian Catrin Lloyd, of 1b Tirydail Lane, was found by her partner at 9.30pm on January 9.
Coroner Mark Layton said it was impossible to be absolutely certain that Lloyd had intended to take her own life due to the amount of alcohol in her system.
An inquest was told how Lloyd had told her partner she was going to let the family dog out into the garden.
When the dog returned alone 30 minutes, Lloyd’s partner became concerned.
He found her hanging from a rafter in the garage.
She had been suffering from post-natal depression and was on prescription medication. No other drugs were found in her system.
Tests showed she had 3,458 milligrammes of alcohol in every litre of her blood – more than four times the legal driving limit.
“That is high reading,” Mr Layton told the inquest.
Recording a narrative verdict, Mr Layton said: “Ms Lloyd had consumed a substantial amount of alcohol prior to her death.
“I am not sure she knew her own mind due to the level of alcohol. The question of intent remains unclear.”
