A PONTARDDULAIS care worker has admitted stabbing her husband in the head during a row over money - but will not be charged with attempted murder.
Gail Oakman was charged with the offence after the incident at her home in Bryniago Road on November 26.
But the 55-year-old appeared by video link at Swansea crown court and offered a plea of guilty to a lesser offence of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
During the incident Oakman stabbed her husband, Alan, in the head and chest.
Patrick Griffiths, prosecuting, said the Crown Prosecution Service would accept the plea and would not insist on a trial.
He said Mr Oakman had made a good recovery and seemed reluctant to help the prosecution with its case.
Mr Griffiths said full details would be given in court when Oakman appeared for sentencing at the end of February.
The court ordered the preparation of a report into her background and a report detailing the long term effects of the attack on Mr Oakman.
The couple have been married for 26 years and Oakman spent eight years as a lollipop lady in Pontarddulais before becoming a care worker in 2002.
She has been remanded in custody at Eastwood Park women's prison near Bristol.
