A BETWS man has been sent to prison after lifting the handbrake of a police car after being arrested.
Sion Dulais Davies, of Maes Ty Llyd in Mardy Road, admitted the offence, which happened on May 21, at Neath magistrates.
Magistrates decided to jail Davies after he also pleaded guilty to having 1.83 grammes of cannabis in his possession and dishonestly obtaining petrol from a station in Brynaman.
They said: "The combination of offences was so serious that only such a sentence can be justified."
The 27-year-old was sent to prison for two months for the handbrake incident, and also one month to run concurrently for dishonestly obtaining the petrol.
Charges of failing to surrender, stealing petrol, exceeding a 30mph speed limit and failing to inform officers of the driver of a Honda car's identity were dismissed after no evidence was offered.
A destruction order was made for the cannabis.
