Carmarthenshire has probably the best leader in the world.
Council chief executive Mark James is officially the best boss in Wales - and global domination may be just one more power lunch away.
Inspirational and visionary, Mr James was named winner of the Leading Wales Leadership in the Public Sector category at a glittering ceremony in Cardiff's most glamorous hotel last week.
The judges' decision was based, in part, on testimonies submitted by numerous members of council staff.
"He not only walks the walk, but talks the talk," said one unnamed council worker.
"Our chief executive is simply the best," said another.
A third declared: "Mark inspires us."
Council staff said they admired Mr James' passion and his approachability.
Another unnamed worker said the chief executive "took an interest in my work and made me feel worthwhile".
Carmarthenshire Council's leader, Meryl Gravell, said Mr James fully deserved the award, describing him as a visionary motivator and an inspirational leader.
"He has made us more efficient, effective and customer focused," she said. "What is very rewarding is that the nomination came from the staff themselves."
