LIVID Gwendraeth Valley residents must wait for another six days before finding out if county planners will ignore their pleas to stop more houses being built in the area.
A decision on two applications for a total of 34 houses to be built on land adjoining Fountain Road, Llannon, was due at a meeting last week.
But, D-day has been delayed until Tuesday when councillors will undertake a site visit before deciding whether to give the plans the green light.
The applications have both been recommended for approval, but residents and community councillors have insisted that the village's infrastructure simply cannot cope.
"The local school is over-subscribed and further development would make this worse," said community councillors.
In letters of objection to the council, concerns voiced included over-development of the village, lack of need for further housing and a failure to acknowledge the human rights of existing residents.
Planning officer Gary Glenister sought to allay concerns by insisting that £20,000 had been negotiated with the developers for equipment and improvements to the school.
He also dismissed over-development fears by saying it was not a matter for the council.
"The demand or otherwise of additional housing in the village is a matter of judgement for the developers," he said. "If there is no demand for houses they will not be built as the developer will not be able to sell them."
The final decision will be made at a meeting in Carmarthen after the site visit on Tuesday.
