HOWZAT for a result?
A Towy Valley cricket club is celebrating after getting the thumbs-up from Carmarthenshire Council for permission to construct a new pitch.
Llanwrda CC will now play on land at Cwmbran Farm after planners gave the plans the all-clear.
The result came despite fears that the road would need improving if plans were given the green light.
Planning officer Kevin Phillips said: "The applicant has been unable to secure an appropriate lease for land adjacent to the village.
"Also there are topography issues for the proposal in a locality close to the village.
"It is not possible to provide the cricket ground within the development limits due to the nature and size of the ground required.
"Therefore, a countryside location in this instance is essential."
