A PIPELINE worker who did a runner from a Carmel bed and breakfast told police his wife would pay the bill - despite the fact he was a skint singleton, a court has heard.
Leon David Sterland, aged 23 from Derbyshire, had stayed at the Stag and Pheasant for a number of nights before he was asked for payment.
Beth Thomas, prosecutor, said Kerland had said he would be staying until the Wednesday but left early on the Monday.
The police were called and PC Jones rang a mobile number that had been left by Sterland. He told the officer that his wife would be sending a cheque.
Sterland pleaded guilty to making off without payment and resisting a police constable and was fined £200 for each offence. He was also ordered to pay £204.75 compensation and £50 costs.
