CHILDREN from the village of Derwydd are benefiting from a Co-op donation of £500.
The money has gone to the Derwydd Residents Forum, a community group which works to improve facilities in the village.
It has used the donation to re-develop the playing fields into an area suitable for children and young people to play as well as a green area for all the residents.
Group secretary Catherine Lewis said: "The playing fields were given to the children and young people of Derwydd by a local family in 1939 for play and recreation.
"Until recently, the area wasn't used much as it had limited facilities but thanks to the Co-op's support we have been able to buy these benches and play equipment for the children."
The award comes from the Co-op's Community Fund which allows Co-op members to donate all or part of their twice-yearly payouts to worthy causes.
