HUNDREDS of beaming Towy Valley residents turned up to catch a glimpse of Llandovery's first-ever Welsh Cup on Saturday.
The trophy - won two weeks ago as if you don't know - was paraded around Church Bank after the Drovers' game against Glamorgan Wanderers.
With almost half the cup-winning team unavailable, the honour of carrying the cup was handed to veteran prop Andrew Cants' Jones, who had just played his last game for the club.
The front-rower, born and bred in the town, was ably supported by all of the junior Drovers' teams on a day that will live long in the memory for all present.
Llandovery chairman Handel Davies said it was another great day and confirmed plans are already underway to keep the celebrations going.
"We have arranged an open-top bus to parade the trophy around the town on carnival day, which is on May 28," he said.
"I think it is the first time a bus of this sort has been to Llandovery and we've had to book it from as far away as Chepstow.
"This will ensure that everybody in town gets a chance to see the cup up close," he said.
Mr Davies also took the time to praise Jones, who has played for the club throughout his career.
"He has been a wonderful servant to the club, having played for us for 18 years and captained us for six years. He's a Llandovery legend."
