A GLANAMAN man who was the victim of an horrendous stab attack earlier this year has been hauled in front of magistrates after officers found three knives in his car.
David Arwel Owen, of Flat 3 74 Cwmaman Road, pleaded guilty to three charges of possessing an article with a blade or sharp point after an incident on December 9 last year.
Beth Thomas, prosecuting, told Ammanford court that officers found weapons in the 48-year-old's car after a search in a car park in the village.
"They found a lock-knife in the driver's door and he was arrested." she said.
"They continued to search the vehicle and found another lock-knife in the driver's door and a dagger style knife in the boot."
Owen told officers he had forgotten the weapons were in his car after he had moved home a few months ago.
He also said he had bought the knives back in 1973 and they were used to help with looking after his horses.
Owen's defence solicitor said the vehicle was filled with items from the house-move and that his client had now changed his views on keeping the knives.
He said: "My client was the victim of a knife attack when he was stabbed 1cm from his heart.
"He had a lucky escape, if anyone can call getting stabbed a lucky escape that is.
"But the incident has changed his perspective on possessing such items as he knows full-well they have the potential to harm."
Magistrates decided to make Owen the subject of a 12 month supervision order with £150 costs.
They also imposed a destruction order on the three knives.
