A GORSLAS carpenter has been hammered with a six month ban after he was caught riding a motorbike while banned from driving.
Craig Phillip Selwood, aged 26, of 25 Church Road, was halfway through a six month ban imposed for having 12 points, when he was stopped on Cwmaman Road on May 1.
Peter Lazarus, defending, said his client was a self-employed carpenter and travelled throughout the country for work.
He pleaded with magistrates not to extend the ban.
Magistrates adjourned the case for an hour for a fast-track report to be compiled by the probation service.
They refused to follow the recommendation from the officer and banned Selwood, who pleaded guilty, for six months.
He was also ordered to carry out 80 hours of unpaid work and £60 costs.
"He must be given a suitable punishment," said magistrates.
