THE case against a 15-year-old schoolgirl arrested following an alleged racial attack in Ammanford Park has been dropped, it has emerged.
Police have confirmed that following the alleged incident on April 27, the Crown Prosecution Service has decided no further action will be taken.
Fifteen-year-old Rhian Williams had alleged she was subjected to a torrent of racial abuse before being punched and head-butted.
Meanwhile, an Ammanford police officer has revealed just eight cases of racial incidents were reported in Ammanford and the Amman Valley in the 12 months to last March.
Community safety officer Rob Chapman said these were cases of verbal abuse.
"Five of them were cases of local retailers receiving drunken abuse," he said.
"Any such incidents should be reported to the police. Ammanford still trails Llanelli and Carmarthen when it comes to these kind of incidents."
