THE team-mates of an Amman Valley footballer left with serious head injuries following a savage street attack have arranged a charity match for him on Sunday, May 27.
Paul Pugh, 24, former captain of Cwmaman FC, has been in hospital ever since the assault outside an Ammanford town centre pub on January 6.
Now Cwmaman are planning a special charity match against a Swansea City All Stars XI at Cwmaman Park.
Cwmaman FC secretary Alun Rees is asking people to donate items for a auction following the match, the proceeds of which will go towards Paul's care costs when he finally leaves hospital.
"Turning out for Paul is the very least we can do," said Mr Rees. "As well as being our club captain, he's a very popular guy as well."
The match is due to kick off at 2.30.
