LOCAL MP Adam Price says a ministerial response to a letter he sent urging the Government to ensure a future for the Remploy site in Brynamman gives little hope.
After a recent meeting with Remploy representatives failed to give assurances about the factory's future, the Plaid MP requested that the Minister for Disabled People, Ann McGuire MP, take full account of the impact any closure would have on his constituents.
"I was hoping that the Minister would address the economic impacts of closing the Brynamman site," said Mr Price.
"Instead it simply details the timetable for progress and issues a statement refusing to comment on the possible outcome.
"I think my constituents and other Remploy workers have been left in the dark about these proposals and it is a highly unfair working environment."
Mr Price together with AM Rhodri Glyn Thomas has now arranged to meet with Union officials to express support for any opposition to the potential closure of the Brynamman site.
