A GARNANT man has been banned from driving for 16 months after he tested positive after a routine stop by police officers.
Paul Andrew Wilkinson, of 13A Coronation Road, pleaded guilty to the offence, which took place just after midnight on Wednesday, May 2.
Beth Thomas, prosecuting, said officers spotted the 42-year-old driving along a road in Garnant and he was routinely stopped.
He was breathalysed and was found to have 60 micrograms of alcohol in 100millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35mg/100ml.
"He fully co-operated with the police and was full of remorse for what he had done," she said.
Hywel Davies, defending, said Wilkinson had moved to the Amman Valley to escape an horrific past and was devastated to find he was over the limit.
"There are no previous convictions of this nature on his record," he said.
Ammanford magistrates also fined Wilkinson £200 and ordered him to pay £60 costs.
