WHEN Ammanford housewife Jennifer Maloney launched the Adran Penrhyd village group in 1976 she never dreamt it would still be going strong over 30 years later.
The talented group - which includes schoolchildren from Ammanford, Penygroes and Parcyrhun schools -- recently scooped nine first prizes in the county Urdd Eisteddfod.
And when this year's National Urdd Eisteddfod starts on Monday in Carmarthen, Adran Penrhyd will be competing in various categories including dancing, recitals, singing and disco dancing.
"I never thought it would go on so long," mother-of-three Mrs Maloney, 56, told the Guardian this week.
"But now my grandchildren have joined I can see myself carrying on for a while yet.
"Watching the children perform and learning Welsh culture still gives me enormous pleasure even after all these years."
Adran Penrhyd will be performing at the Amman Centre on Friday at 7.30pm.
