A PENYGROES teenager who broke into Cross Hands Primary School and stole almost £2000's worth of equipment to fund a drug addiction has been told he could be sent to jail.
David Simon Jones, of 85 Norton Road, pleaded guilty to stealing goods worth £250 on April 16 and asked for another break-in, when he stole goods totalling more than £1500 from the school, to be taken into consideration.
Prosecutor Beth Thomas said a laptop was among the first haul, and the bigger theft, which took place over the May Bank Holiday, included a Playstation and other computers.
"In total goods costing £1830 were taken," she said.
Miss Thomas said during interview the 19-year-old claimed to have only acted as an accomplice for his mate, Aaron, later identified as Gareth Aaron Morris, who has already been dealt with regarding the incidents.
"He said they had sharpened a twig and forced open a window at the school.
"He added they had taken the items they had stolen and hid them in a lane, but when they went back, nothing was there."
Defence solicitor David Elvy said his client had been forced into the crime spree because he had to fund a drug problem.
"He has recently been given a suspended sentence, but these offences were committed before that."
Ammanford magistrates adjourned the case until June 14 for a full pre sentence report to be compiled.
"We are keeping all options open."
