A TYCROES man turned from a loving partner into 'the Incredible Hulk' in the space of a five-minute journey back from the pub, a court has heard.
Robert Spain, of 9 Brynhafod, had been drinking with his partner Stephanie Barnett in Penybanc RFC on May 7 before jumping in a taxi and heading home.
Prosecutor Beth Thomas said the couple had seemingly enjoyed a nice evening before the 39-year-old got out of the front seat of the taxi outside their Ammanford home and became violent.
"He grabbed her and tried to pull her out of the car," she said.
"The victim was shocked because they hadn't argued but he started to hit her with his hand."
Reading her statement to the court in Ammanford she said: "The taxi driver came round and managed to pull him off.
"I started to pick my things up from the floor but could hear him smashing things up inside the house.
"He was punching and kicking the doors and during this time he ripped his top off and flexed his muscles like the Incredible Hulk does."
Miss Thomas added the victim was extremely upset because she knew her neighbours would have heard everything.
Spain, who represented himself in court, said he was aware something had to be done about his anger.
"I need to get this sorted out," he said.
The case was adjourned for a full pre-sentence report to be compiled.
Spain, who has since moved in with his father, will re-appear infront of Ammanford magistrates on June 14.
