The only petrol station in Llandeilo is back in business.

The petrol station, on Rhosmaen Street, closed unexpectedly in September which forced residents to travel to Ammanford and surrounding areas to fill up their cars.

During the time of the closure, one resident told The Guardian: “I have used the petrol station for years and I went there to fill up during the weekend and it was closed.

“There was no notice and I had to drive over nine miles to Ammanford to put petrol in my car.

“I have to travel to Ammanford to visit the bank and now I have to go there to fill up my car.

“It is very inconvenient.”

Despite motorists being left on red for four months, the petrol station has now reopened along with a brand new convenience store.

The Murco petrol station in partnership with Premier Stores opened its doors on Wednesday, January 23 and residents are delighted that the service has returned.

One customer told The Guardian: “It is brilliant to see the petrol station back open.

“It was a pain travelling to different towns just to put petrol in.”

The petrol station has been the only petrol station in the town for almost 30 years.

Speaking at the official opening on January 24, Jim Mulheran, Motor Fuel Group’s Managing Director and Dealer Operations, said: “We are absolutely delighted that we have been able to come to an agreement with Appan to reinstate the petrol station in Llandeilo after it being closed for a short while.”

Mayor of Llandeilo, Councillor Edward Thomas added: “I am really pleased that the petrol station has reopened.

“The reaction has been positive.

“There has been a vast improvement with an added mini market and I am glad to see it back in action.”

The petrol station is open from 6am until 9pm daily.
