An Ammanford man who was viciously attacked on a night will be giving a presentation in his hometown next week.

Paul Pugh was left in a coma for two months and hospitalised for 13 months following an unprovoked assault outside The Old Cross Inn in Ammanford on January 6, 2007, for which four men were jailed.

He will be attending Ammanford Welfare Miners Club on Tuesday, June 4 at 6pm to share his story, talk about the #PaulsPledge campaign and the work he is doing to prevent this from happening to others.

Paul now gives motivational and educational talks to give an insight into the devastating effects alcohol-fuelled violence can have.

His pledge, to ask people to show your support to his campaign and vow to never condone violent behaviour, is to walk away from aggression and violence and encourage friends and family to do the same.

Despite the fact he will never fully recover from injuries that left him having to learn how to walk and talk again, Paul has used his experience to campaign against alcohol fuelled violence.

Speaking at a previous event, Paul said: "My time in hospital felt like a lifetime but since I have been recovering time has flown by.

“My focus now is on my recovery and campaigning for #PaulsPledge.

"The response has been amazing and I now feel it is my purpose in life to get the message out there so this doesn't happen again.

“It is a simple message - just don't go there.”

Paul has taken to Twitter to invite everyone along to his presentation.

“On Tuesday, June 4 at 6pm, I will be attending the Ammanford Welfare Miners club to conduct a Pauls Pledge presentation.

“Everyone is welcome to come along. Hope to see you there.”
