AMMAN Valley students have picked up their GCSE results this morning after months of uncertainty.

Headteacher Nerys Nicholas has congratulated the pupils on their excellent results.

She said: "Warm congratulations to our year 11 pupils this year who are a special group of students and who have battled through adversity to achieve some excellent results this summer.

South Wales Guardian:

"We look forward to working with our pupils to ensure they progress in their studies at school, in college or in employment from September.

"I would like to thank staff for their quality support and guidance which has meant that so many pupils have chosen to remain at Ysgol Dyffryn Aman for their sixth form studies.

"I am incredibly proud of all our success stories and our results are a testament to the hard work, dedication and talent of pupils, staff, parents, governors and the whole school community at Ysgol Dyffryn Aman. Llongyfarchiadau gwresog i bob un o’n dysgwyr ni ar eich llwyddiannau haeddiannol a dymuniadau gorau i chi i gyd i’r dyfodol."

Education Minister, Kirsty Williams issued a statement this morning, saying it has been "a year like no other".

She said: “I want to send my very best wishes to everyone who receives their results today.

“Due to the many changes we’ve had to make this year in exceptional circumstances, you’ve had to make many sacrifices.

“It has been a year like no other, and today will feel a bit different.

“These results are a reflection and reward for your hard work, prior attainment in exams, and school assessment, so you should be very proud of what you have achieved.

South Wales Guardian:

“I hope you get the grades you’d hoped for, and you can continue with your journey in the autumn, whether this is onto college, apprenticeship or staying on at school.

“Although many of you will be pleased with your results and excited for your next step, if you didn’t get what you’d hoped, there’s plenty of options & advice on Working Wales.

“Best of luck, and best wishes for the future.”
