THERE have been 84 new coronavirus cases recorded in the Hywel Dda health board area in the last 48 hours, according to today’s figures (Monday, July 12).

Public Health Wales (PHW) data shows that there were 48 new cases in Carmarthenshire, 18 in Ceredigion and 18 in Pembrokeshire.

On Sunday, July 11 there were 698 new cases reported across Wales and 39 in Hywel Dda, bring the total in the three counties to 16,932. PHW figures show there were 13 new cases in Carmarthenshire, seven in Pembrokeshire and 19 in Ceredigion. There were no new deaths associated with Covid-19 recorded.

Figures on a Sunday are for the 24 hour period up to 9am on Friday, and on Mondays a 48 hour period is covered, up to 9am Sunday. Figures on a Monday will be around double the usual 24 hour figure.

No new Covid-19 related deaths have been recorded in the Hywel Dda area, with the total 481 for the duration of the pandemic.

Across Wales, 1,190 new cases were confirmed, with no new Covid-19 deaths reported.

The total number of cases in Wales is now 225,691 with 5,579 deaths.

There have been 23,545 tests since the last report.

The total number of cases across the three counties is 17,016 – 11,261 in Carmarthenshire, 3,802 in Pembrokeshire and 1,953 in Ceredigion.

Across Wales, 2,274,421 have received a first dose of Covid-19 vaccine and 1,832,550 are fully vaccinated.

In Hywel Dda, as of July 7, 494,792 residents have now received both jabs, with 14,175 given in the last seven days.

In Carmarthenshire (population 188,771) there have been 129,966 first jabs given and 100,841 second does, with 53.4% full vaccinated.

In Pembrokeshire (population 125,818) there have been 90,453 first doses administered and 69,573 second doses, with 55.3% fully vaccinated.

And in Ceredigion (population 72,695) there have been 51,387 first jabs given and 39,064 second doses, with 53.7% fully vaccinated.
