UNEMPLOYMENT figures across Carmarthenshire continue to fall as the economy slowly improves after a year of lockdowns.
The latest figures from the Department for Work and Pensions in the county, reveal the number of people claiming benefits in May fell by 1358 across Carmarthenshire - a 20.7 per cent drop year on year.
Wales's unemployment rate dropped slightly in the last quarter, according to the Office for National Statistics (ONS).
The latest figures show that the rate between March and May was 3.9 per cent - a 1 per cent drop on the previous quarter.
This was below the UK-wide average of 4.8 per cent.
The staff of the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) in Carmarthenshire said they have been actively supporting those who have been affected by the pandemic and are claiming benefits.
A DWP spokesperson said: "Across Carmarthenshire we are welcoming the return of our employers notifying vacancies to us and approaching us for assistance.
"More employers are coming back into our Jobcentres along with some of our partner organisations; this is meeting our aim of bringing services directly to our collective customers and potential employees for our employers.
"In Carmarthen representatives from Business in Focus attended the office for an employment session, providing support for suitable applicants with current Kickstart vacancies.
"During the fortnightly digital Kickstart job club for customers in Llanelli and Carmarthen sites, we have had some guest speakers from local businesses which has proved very supportive for those attending."
