TWO WOMEN who were caught in breach of covid rules have been hit with a bill of more than £2,000 each.
Nicola Ann Williams, 45, of Alltywerin, Pontardawe, was found to be at Tanydarren, Cilmaengwyn, Pontardawe, which saw her away from home in an alert level 4 area of Wales, without a reasonable excuse, on April 3 this year.
At a separate hearing, Cardiff Magistrates' Court heard that Britany Williams, 25, of Tanydarren, Cilmaengwyn, Pontardawe, gathered with another person at her home in an alert level four area of Wales on the same date.
The cases against both women, who were not present for their hearings, were proved in their absence under the single justice procedure.
They were each prosecuted under the Health Protection (Coronavirus Restrictions) (Wales) Regulations 2020.
Magistrates fined Nicola Ann Williams £1,760. She must also pay a £176 surcharge to fund victim services and £90 costs.
Brittany Williams was also fined £1,760, and was also ordered to pay a £176 surcharge and £90 costs, totalling £2,026.
